I have heard of many ways of disinfecting sponges but this is my favorite!
There's nothing worse than smelly sponge, especially when its the little blue one I have to use on dishes. It crossed my dizzy brain that just because I drown it in soap, doesn't mean its clean. The sour smell is a dead give away.
I tried throwing it in the microwave with a lemon slice and a little water. That seemed only mask the smell, but soon the stink came back.
Upon researching homemade cleaning products and recipes...I found something so simple and immediately had to try it.
So here is the miracle remedy for all my fellow biddy's....
Hydrogen Peroxide!!!! Ta-da!!!!
Simply rinse your sponge really well and ring out excess water. Place the sponge on a shallow plate and pour 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide over the top. Watch it fizz!!! Let sit for 30 min., rinse...and...well thats it.
I'm very excited about all the uses for this very unused brown bottle.
Enjoy!
